Visiting Madrid

This tour is a combination of the City sightseeing tour of Madrid and the Walking tour of historic Madrid. We start the tour with the city sightseeing tour by bus for two hours through the most important avenues, squares and buildings of Madrid with an official guide that will explain the monuments and their history through different times. We will visit the Puerta de Alcalá, the city hall, Cibeles Square, Gran Vía, Paseo de la Castellana, “Paseo del Prado…, continuing to the Madrid of the skyscrapers and the business area of the city…, we will continue with a walking tour, approximately for an hour and a half, towards the old city, the socalled Madrid de los Austrias. We will visit the Plaza Mayor, the Arco de Cuchilleros and the winding streets around Plaza de la Villa until arriving at Bailén Street to contemplate the neoclassical exterior of the Almudena Cathedral. We will finish in the Plaza de Oriente where the Royal Palace is located.

If you wish you can include the entrance and guided tour to the impressive Royal Palace, former residence of the Spanish kings and beautifully furnished and decorated. You will be able to admire the official reception rooms, the Museum area, the Royal Chapel, the Throne Room and the private rooms of king Carlos III and queen Isabel II. Aprox. duration: 1 hour.

El Escorial & Valley of the Fallen

The Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is one of the best representations of the ideological and cultural aspirations of Spain’s “Golden Age”. It was built under the reign of the powerful king Philip II to be the Residence of the kings, Monastery and Pantheon of the Royal Family, becoming as a symbol of the great power of the Spanish empire on that time. The monument was declared of Artistic and Historic interest, and World Heritage in the year 1984. During the tour, we will visit the interior of the Monastery, the Cloister of the Four Evangelists, the Royal Palace of Philip II, Pantheons of the Royal Family, the Chapterhouses, and the Basilica.

The Valley of the Fallen is a monument built as a memorial of those who died during the Spanish Civil war. Located in the beautiful Valley of Cuelgamuros, in the Mountains of Guadarrama. This impressive work includes a colossal cross over 150 metres high, and the Basilica and Crypt excavated in the hard rock under the mountain. This tour includes the entrance to the Valley and the visit inside the Basilica.

Toledo half day with catedral

Upon arrival we start with a panoramic walking tour of Toledo, into the old quarters to visit the Town Hall Square and visit the inside of the impressive Primate Cathedral. Continuation to the old Palace of Justice and the City Hall. We will continue our walk through the old Jewish quarter with its narrow streets to enter and visit the Church of St. Tomé, with the very famous painting of El Greco “El entierro del Conde Orgaz”. Then we visit the old Synagogue of St. Maria la Blanca, which remains as a symbol of the coexistence of the “Three Cultures”. We will also visit a typical factory of Damasquino, well known handi- craft art of Toledo.

Visit the Cathedral

It is one of the most impressive monuments of Toledo and unique in Spain, the Great Cathedral of Santa Maria de Toledo, magnum opus of the Gothic style in Spain. It is an indispensable visit in the heart of Toledo. A spectacular piece of the Spanish architecture and art.

Toledo full day with catedral without lunch

Ávila & Segovia without lunch

Avila, historic city of Spain, with its magnificent XII century walls. The city is the birthplace of St. Teresa of Jesus. We visit the outskirts of the Cathedral, “Plaza Mayor” or “Mercado Chico”, “Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz”, and the interiors of the Romanesque Basilica of San Vicente, the Church of San Juan Bautista and the Convent of Santa Teresa de Jesus.

Afterwards we will head to Segovia, rich in historical monuments, highlighting its majestic Roman Aqueduct. We visit the interiors of the Gothic Cathedral, and the XII Century Alcazar, spectacular fortified building. Avila and Segovia have been declared World Heritage.

 

 

Pick Up And Drop Off

Tour departs from Trapsatur Terminal, 7 San Bernardo Street, Madrid. The closest metro stations are Santo Domingo (Line 2) and Callao (Lines 3 and 5), located 2 and 5 minutes walking distance respectively from the terminal.
